PS & Co Review: Natural, Holistic, Whole Food.

At PS & Co, the goal is clean, holistic, nutrient-packed vegan food. While the dishes uphold this mission with meticulous attention to healthful, plant-exclusive, and gluten-free ingredients, the flavors don’t match the anticipation. The food was undoubtedly fresh and the ingredients were easily identifiable, but they didn’t assert themselves like they wanted to be remembered. That was disappointing.

This place has a plethora of vegan options from desserts, beverages, and food. I showed up expecting a first-class trip to Flavortown, but the organic Burmese mohinga soup did not take me there. I wasn’t wowed by the robust spices promised in the menu description. The lemongrass, turmeric, ginger, onions, and garlic, were not belting in harmonic unison. The only saving grace was the spritz of lime that added a hint of brightness to the dish. Adding the brown rice noodles, scallions, cilantro, and chopped peanuts seemed promising but failed to elevate the overall experience. The portion was great, but it was served at a pitifully cool temperature, less than what you’d expect from a bowl of soup on a December afternoon in the city and I missed a bread to dip.

The mac & cheese, on the other hand, was a creamy and refreshing twist on the classic comfort food. The cashew-and-red-bell-pepper-based sauce over brown rice pasta delivers a good taste profile, and it’s got a little bit of a kick. It’s not overbearing, but it lingers. The consistency of the sauce is pretty much on point, however, the portion might not leave you feeling fully satisfied. What stands out is the absence of faux cheeses, offering a plant-rich alternative that’s commendable. This dish lands somewhere in the realm of “tastes good” rather than “knock your socks off.”

The inviting ambiance and pleasant staff enhance the dining experience and somewhat compensate for the food’s flavor shortfall. In essence, PS & Co succeeds in delivering light, health-conscious meals but falls short of creating truly exceptional, flavorful dishes. It’s suitable for those prioritizing health without compromising taste but may disappoint those seeking a more remarkable culinary adventure.

But don’t take my word for it, visit them and try for yourself at 1706 Locust St Philadelphia, PA 19103.
